Hello and welcome to my vocal studio. I teach one-on-one vocal lessons to all ages in person and via Zoom. I studied classical voice at the University of North Texas and continued my studies with Dr. David Fairchild in New York City. I have been developing my technique singing in rock and metal bands over the last thirty years.
Bio
Jon Cunningham has toured America, Australia, New Zealand and Europe supporting Wheatus, Nick Offerman, Ben Folds, Steel Panther, They Might Be Giants and The Polyphonic Spree. He is Disco Mountain Man in the Bee Gees metal tribute called Tragedy. They were signed to Napalm Records in 2021. In the studio, he's recorded with Ben Folds, They Might Be Giants, Jim Rado and The Polyphonic Spree. He has written 7 albums for his solo project Corn Mo and his band .357 Lover. He co-wrote a musical about Grizzly Adams with Nick Jones for The Huntington Theatre in Boston, MA. He co-wrote "The Rainbow Song" with Nick Offerman for American Ham. He co-produced a ballet called SEVERED: The Tragic Loves of Frankenstein's Monster with The Love Show featuring the music from his album The Purchase of the North Pole. In 2019, he performed selections from Schubert's Die Winterreise at Lincoln Center with Dr. Bill Schimmel.
APPROACH
When working with a new student, I pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses of his or her voice, then tailor a lesson plan that develops overall technique and focuses on the underdeveloped areas, all through the preparation and performance of the student's favorite songs.

Basic Breathing Exercises
Finding Your Range
Posture and Technique
Warming Up The Voice
Phrasing and Breathing with Song
Students can sing whatever they like. I recommend learning at least one Italian aria in order to improve phrasing. If he or she wants to work on a song that is out of range, we can work on increasing his or her vocal range. The act of singing can be daunting, challenging and highly rewarding. Mainly i want my students to enjoy the discovery and development of their own voices.
